Claying a vehicle removes bonded contaminants from painted surfaces which enhances the cars shine & provides a clean, smooth finish. Its recommend to clay your vehicle every 6 months, typically right before winter, & then again right before spring. however, determining how often to clay your vehicle can depend on many factors including things like how often you drive, the environment you drive in, & whether or not you regularly wash & seal your vehicle.
What Is An Exterior Ceramic Coating?
A ceramic coating is a protective layer applied to a vehicles exterior painted surfaces. We typically use a silica based, liquid polymer formula that bonds to the vehicles painted surfaces & forms a durable hydrophobic barrier. This barrier aids in repelling water & making it easier for dirt & grime to wash away, which intern helps with preventing water spots and traffic film. You can also expect protection from UV damage such as oxidation, clear coat failure , road salt, acid rain, bird, droppings, tree, sap, & other contaminants. Unlike waxes & sealants, ceramic coatings are designed to last for several years- offering a long lasting protection while enhancing the gloss & shine of the paint, making your vehicles paint appear cleaner & more vibrant.
How Often Should I Ceramic Coat/Paint Seal My Vehicle's Exterior?
There are different types of sealants at different price points for your vehicles exteriors painted surfaces. All of which have different longevity & strength. Waxes typically range from weeks to a couple of months, paint sealants typically last any where from 3 to 12 months. Ceramic coatings are the strongest chemical form of paint protection there is- lasting anywhere from 1 to 10 years depending on what your detailer offers. Any form of paint protection is ideal for your vehicles surfaces. how long the protection lasts depends solely on the products used, how they are applied, & how well your vehicle is maintained.

While polishing prior to ceramic coating is not necessary, I would highly advise that you should. Polishing is a crucial step before applying a ceramic coating. A ceramic coating (if properly maintained) provides superior protection, to create a hydrophobic surface. this aids in making the vehicle easier to clean, helps ice melt faster, repels dust, offers UV protection, reduces glare, & improves visibility in wet conditions.
What is oxidation?
What is Oxidation? Essentially it is a form of corrosion. its the chemical process in which the paints protective clear coat degrades due to prolonged exposure to common elements like UV rays, heat, bug splatter, bird droppings etc. Over time this causes paint to become dull, faded, & chalky. This degradation can lead to paint appearing rough & cloudy & in severe cases peeling & flaking can occur.
How to prevent Oxidation?
To slow down the process of paint oxidation regularly wash , seal, & protect your vehicle from excessive uv exposure. Consider parking in a shaded area or using a car cover when able. It is beneficial to apply a wax or sealant every few months for a more advanced protection. explore options like paint protection film or ceramic coatings!
what is traffic film?
accumulation of dirt, grime, and other contaminants on a vehicle's exterior as it travels on the road. This film is a mixture of various substances like dust, mud, oil, tar, and exhaust fumes, and it bonds to the vehicle's surface over time.
